How to remove coffee stains from your carpet or rug?

Lets face it, we all love coffee. Coffee is the bestselling beverage of all time! But what happens when you spill coffee on your favourite carpet or rug?

Before you decide to engage professional for help, you can try the self-help stain removal steps below:

  1. DO NOT scrub your carpet or rug surface aggressively! This will induce the carpet fiber to soak up the coffee faster. Keep calm.
  2. Use a dry paper (kitchen towel) to blot the affected area to reduce or remove excess coffee leftover on the area. Do not scrub, gently blot.
  3. Pour a tiny amount of mild household detergent onto a wet sponge.
  4. Using a circular motion, try to gently rub the affected area without scrubbing it. (This step should remove most of the stain).
  5. If step 4 cannot fully remove the stains, try diluted white vinegar.
  6. Dilute the vinegar in 1:1 portion with warm water.
  7. Repeat step 3 and 4 using the diluted vinegar.
  8. If all the above fail to remove the coffee stain, you can consider seeking carpet cleaning professionals at 98860178 or email: sales@artofcleaning.com.sg (www.artofcleaning.com.sg).
  9. Reminder: the faster you wash your stained carpet, the higher the chance for the stain to be fully removed.

Carpet Cleaning Method – Dry Foam Injection

In the Singapore carpet cleaning industry, Dry Foam Injection method is a very popular method to maintain and clean household rugs, upholstery like sofa, dining chairs and mattresses.

This method is considered to be more delicate than hot water extraction method. Hot water extraction method is not suitable for household because of the amount of moisture it leaves on the carpet. The moisture causes rusting for the pocketed coil springs in mattresses and molding on the wooden frame in sofa and dining chair. Therefore Dry Foam Injection method is considered more suitable for household carpet cleaning.

A foam cleaning agent is added with water to the pressure tank of a dry foam machine. The foam (consisting of 85% foam and 15% water) is then pumped using the high pressure at a temperature around 50 degrees Celsius onto the carpet. A brush is used to spread the foam and allow the chemical in the foam to react with the dirt on the carpet. The foam together with the dirt residue is removed by suction therefore leaving a clean carpet.

This method of carpet cleaning is great for odor removal and will leave the carpet smelling fresh and hygiene immediately after the session. The carpet usually takes between 4-6 hours to dry in indoor condition. Having a well ventilated or air conditioned environment will accelerate the drying speed substantially. Therefore at Art of Cleaning, we highly recommend carpet owners to use Dry Foam Injection method to clean your carpet every 6 months to maintain the outlook and hygiene level of your carpet, sofa and mattresses.

Carpet cleaning method - Hot water extraction

In the Singapore carpet cleaning industry, hot water extraction is a very popular method to maintain and clean office (wall to wall) carpet.

It is popular due to the efficient and fast drying nature of this carpet cleaning method. High pressure is used in hot water extraction machines to agitate the carpet fibers, hot water is then used to increase reaction rate between the water solution and the dirt residue inside the carpet fiber.

Hot water is usually heated to around 60 degrees Celsius before being shot at high pressure onto the carpet fiber before suction from the vacuum pump extract the hot water together with the dirt residue from the carpet totally.

This method of carpet cleaning is great for odor removal and will leave the carpet smelling fresh and hygiene immediately after the session. The carpet usually takes between 4-8 hours to dry in indoor condition. Having a well ventilated or air conditioned environment will accelerate the drying speed substantially. Therefore at Art of Cleaning, we highly recommend carpet owners to use Hot water extraction method to clean your carpet every 6 months to maintain the outlook and hygiene level of your carpet.

Why should we clean our carpets?

Carpet is one of the favorite playground for viruses, bacteria and allergens!

Carpet is one of the most utilized accessory in the household and most of us tend to overlook the importance of proper cleaning for carpets/rugs. A research from Asian Scientist (www.asianscientist.com) shows that 80% of the 8,000 participants are reactive to dust mites. Thankfully vacuuming weekly helps reduce the level of dust mite but it is not enough. We need carpet cleaning professionals to help exterminate allergens, dust mites, bacteria and virus on our rug/carpets. It is highly recommended that we clean our carpet properly every 6 months. Do not leave your health to chances!
